When clients ask me where they can buy furniture in Orangeville, a few places come to mind. The Brick and Leon’s are the obvious big chains. I’ve never been a big fan of them for lots of reasons but that’s not to say that their good or bad it’s just not my cup of tea.
Sometimes family run businesses are not in the forefront of peoples minds, that is until they move to a smaller town were strangers become friends. Small town living is on the raise across Ontario and the small family businesses that have survived up until now might just be able to pass it on to their next generation.
The Butcher family furniture business (Furniture sales and warehouse) has been serving the area for over 55 years and with that they should get the gold medal for just lasting that long. Believing in good Canadian products at fair prices, great customer service at includes free delivery and set up and in home consultations is something that all businesses could learn from.
So what do they have…Well then sell LaZboy and lots of things you might not find in the bigger chains. They also specializing in: dining room, living room, bedroom, family room, home office, giftware and accessories. They also have home decorating consultants and links to painters and furniture reupholsterers.

HISTORY OF BUTCHER FURNITURE
Butcher Furniture was established in 1959 when Dave & Betty Butcher moved with their young family to Hillsburgh. For the next 34 years, they worked side by side to build a busy furniture business. Their philosophy was always fair prices for good quality.
Over the years the store has grown to 12,000 sq. ft. and a second store was opened in Orangeville in 2004.
Presently both stores are owned by one of Dave’s long time employees, Marvin McDougall and his wife Nancy. A tradition started in 1959 carries on.
For over 50 (1959 – 2009) years Butcher Furniture has strived to bring their customers the best Canadian made, quality furniture at reasonable prices. The unique layout and casual shopping atmosphere sets Butchers apart from the big box stores.
In addition to the largest La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio in the area, and two locations to serve you, Butchers offers such quality name brands as Durham bedroom furniture, Simmons mattresses and Tempur-pedic to name a few.
Our professional sales staff are available to assist the shopper to make informed decisions about their furniture needs.
