Day 249 of 365 – The Country Forge

One of the many things I love about Orangeville and the Hills of the Headwaters is that we have so many talented artists, and Gallery’s, and we’re constantly using them and getting the word out to the people that live in Toronto and the rest of the GTA.

Today features another artist at the Alton Mill Raymound and Robyn Schindler of The Country Forge.

I love art but I can’t draw, paint, sing or play the drum I do like things made out of wrought iron.  So, while showing house to a really nice family I decided to finish my day and check out the The Country Forge Studio has been producing wrought iron products for the home or the garden.  They have been at this for over 15 years. They even use coal and hand forge the steel.

They use many different anvils and their visions one of a kind, never duplicating a customer’s end product.

They have a location in Fergus and now have a satellite studio in the Livery at the Alton Mill complete with its own forge for on-site demonstrations and specialty work.

They make so many different things such as,  wrought iron gates, railings, candle holders, pot racks, floor vents, benches, arbors and much more. Each piece is hand forged to make it unique and one of a kind. Styles range from traditional to modern.

Some of their wrought iron pieces items can be viewed in our gallery and bought online at http://www.thecountryforge.com .  If you don’t see what you’re looking for or have a design in mind call us – we can make it happen.

The Country Forge is run by Ray and Robyn Schindler. Robyn helps to create the custom designs and Ray does the actual forging either in his studio at their farm near Fergus Ontario, or at the forge in Alton.

They are located at Queen Street Alton Ont and can be reached at 519-843-8373 or by email schindler@hsfx.ca
