Day 180 of 365 – The Elba Wetlands

I thought it was time to highlight another area of interest since the weather is just too nice. The temp is supposed to be above average over the next few days, which means I should either be outside walking my dog or sipping cocktails on a patio somewhere…LOL

One of the tributaries of the Nottawasaga River, the Elba Wetlands is dedicated to conservation purposes. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the wildlife in the area including deer, minks, muskrats, beavers, raptors, hawks, herons and more. In addition, the area is considered critical to the spawning of brook trout in the region.  I’ve since lots of people fishing from the roadside over the last few weeks.

The Elba Wetlands can be reached via Highway 89 east of Shelburne to the Mono Amaranth Townline; south for 5 km. A large sign on the right side of road marks the entrance to the area.
