Well I’m not big fishing kind of guy but this event is great for someone who is! It’s the July 9 and 10 Fishing Derby and it will be taking place during the Ontario Family Fishing Weekend and NO fishing license is not required during this time….
There is also going to be on-site camping available for $25 per night July 8 and 9, Saturday evening campfire with hot dogs and popcorn, and fish ponds for kids.
Registration for the local tournament costs about $35 for one day or $60 for the two. All the proceeds will be going to the Island Lake Community Trails Campaign. They are in the midst of connecting all the trails around the lake and will also connect parts of Mono and Orangeville together.
Prices totaling $4,500 will be handed out to those who catch the longest bass, pike, black crappie and yellow perch. To register, call 1-800-668-5557 or visit http://www.creditvalleyca.ca/foundation/events
